Course Description: • This detailed course is for health care providers and other professional rescuers. Those who take this course are employed in the health field or are students in health occupations training programs. Students will learn the skills of one- and two-rescuer CPR utilizing mouth-to-mask and bag-mask techniques. You will also be taught proper use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) and how to relieve choking. Skills learned will enable you to recognize emergencies such as sudden cardiac arrest and know how to respond to them. • AHA Certification is obtained upon successful completion. Prerequisites: • None. Course Description:

  • This training will focus on the routine administrative and clinical tasks that keep medical offices and/or clinics running smoothly. 

 

Prerequisites:

Pertinent Information:

  • You will learn how to take medical histories, explain treatment procedures to patients, prepare patients for examination, and assist the doctor.  You’ll also learn how to sterilize medical instruments and prepare and administer medications and treatments.

 

  • Upon completion, you will have the requisite number of hours and training to become certified as a clinical medical assistant.

Certified Medication Aide (ZRXCMA)

Course Description: • A state regulated training program, this course will prepare and train individuals working in nursing/health facilities to administer medications. Students will learn (1) oral, rectal, and topical administration applications and (2) how medications affect systems of the body. The course includes 40 hours of classroom and laboratory work, and 16 hours of supervised clinical experience. Prerequisites: • Student must be a current Certified Nurse Aide listed on the Nurse Aide Registry through the Oklahoma State Department of Health with no abuse notations. • Student must show proof of having worked for a minimum of six months as a CNA. • Student must be at least 18 years of age. • Student must have a high school or high school equivalency diploma. • Student must have physical and mental capability to safely perform duties of CMA. Pertinent Information: • Student must score an average of 80% or above on all tests and complete all assignments. • Student must perform medication passes to 20 individuals with 100% accuracy during supervised practical experience. • Upon completion of the course, the student must pass a written examination administered by the state. Upon successful completion of the course and the state exam, the completer’s name is placed on the Oklahoma Nurse Aide Registry as a Certified Medication Aide through the Oklahoma State Department of Health. Course Description: • Students will learn how to properly administer medications in an environment where nursing care is not required – such as group homes or residential care facilities. • Certification course. Prerequisites: • None Pertinent Information: • All books included in tuition. • MAT program is designed to provide training required by Oklahoma HB 1092 (May 87) and amended by HB 1880 (June 88). • Its goal is to enable facility personnel to help meet the health care needs of residential care/group home clients safely and effectively. • The class will also make the students aware of what constitutes liability when assisting clients. • State law requires a minimum of 15 hours training, which this course covers, and at least eight hours of update training annually (see MAT Update). • To be eligible for a certificate of completion, a student must complete the entire class. Absent hours will constitute a failure of completion. • Students must be able to read and write at a minimum of an eighth grade level. Oral testing will not be conducted at Meridian Technology Center. • Class moves at a fast pace. Student must be prepared to study outside of class in order to ensure success. • Students must test and score a minimum of 85 percent overall and demonstrate the appropriate skills in order to pass the class.
